Ambiguously Lost Studios was founded in Dayton, Ohio, in 2020 during the COVID-19 shutdown. Since then, the studio has relocated to Lexington, Kentucky, where it has expanded to include both a sound studio and a stop-motion studio. Today, Ambiguously Lost Studios produces stop-motion series and films that aim to normalize nontraditional narratives through comedy.

 

The name "Ambiguous Loss" is derived from a term coined by Pauline Boss, referring to the grief experienced when a loved one is lost in ways other than death. The creation of these stories stems from the desire to process significant loss and help time heal emotional wounds.
